Never Have I Ever: Season 2

She got her ‘Dream Boy’.

 

I was angry when I heard there would be a Season 2 of this series. What was the need? I asked myself until it was released and I watched it. 

The series is an American - coming of age comedy drama series starring Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, playing the lead character, who was suffering the death of father, dealing with grief, her Indian identity, boys trauma, friendship and school life.

MECHANICS OF THE MOVIE:

Direction: The characters showed us, their emotions, tones, expressions and everything. The narration by John McEnroe, Gigi Hadid and Andy Samberg was an icing on the cake but it could have been reduced a bit. Listening to John McEnroe again made it more weird. 

Cinematography: From my research, it was a single camera set up. Nice!

Editing: The bomb!

Writing: Honestly, it is a thoughtful script. I didn’t know Season 2 has so much to offer.

Soundtrack: 8/10

Devi is like some of us back then in secondary school. We feel we were bad enough to play boys. We would plan it out with our close friends and bomb! Some of us get to enjoy the end of it but Devi wasn’t lucky enough. The character Devi wasn’t rational at all. She allowed her emotions get the best of her and it was disgusting. For me, she was wasting Dr.Jamie’s (therapist) breathe. After seeing her, she still does whatever goes on in her mind. 

She was also self centred. It was all about her. She thinks she would have two boys to herself. Ha! Ha! Ha! Was she precocious? No, I won’t call her that. 

She has a ‘Know it all ‘ behavior.  Her friend, Eleanor acts like that too. 

Fabiola gave me this unsure vibe towards her sexuality. I might be wrong but that’s how it was for me. 

There is a new character.

Moral Lessons:

1) Don’t double date.

2) Be there for your friends.

Rating:PG13

I will give this series an 80%.
