THEM - 2021 series.

Since my lookalike is in this series, why don’t I watch it? That was what I told myself. It is not a Netflix movie. If you are subscribed to Amazon Prime, you can watch it or you go to Netnaija to download all episodes and subtitles.

Okay, This film is an American horror drama series, which is based on anthology. It explores the terror in America. A black family moved to a white neighborhood, where their home becomes a ground for evil forces. In Nigeria, we say ‘witchcraft or juju’.

Main Characters:

DEBORAH AYORINDE as Lucky Emory

MELODY HURD as Gracie Emory

SHAHADI JOSEPH WRIGHT as Ruby Emory

BASHY as Henry Emory

ALISON PILL as Betty Wendell

MECHANICS OF THE SERIES:

Direction: Lena waithe did another woeful magic with this one. Why must black people experience pain in movies? Same thing she did with Queen & Slim. You should know what I’m talking about because this series is about racism. The hatred created by Alison Pill can make someone commit suicide, honestly. What if I say she actually do hate the blacks outside the movie because I was almost believing it was not just acting. Melody Hurd is going to be a very good actress. I watched her in fatherhood too.

Cinematography: The camera angles were amazing.

Editing:7/10.

Writing: Little Marvin, I think you have a tendency to actually commit murder because the way you pulled off the killing of chester was unbelievable. Why old mama like that go put pikin inside cloth, cover am totally with cloth dey swing am left to right until the pikin die? You think the mother will ever forget that? That woman too that sold the house to the Emory’s family contributed to whatever happened with the family. Also, If I catch that black man with the hat.

Soundtrack: Don’t watch it at night o. Listening to BLACK JOE alone can make you scream. The poems were so scary.

Marsai Martins said, ‘I don’t do no black pain. If it’s black pain, I don’t go for it because there are so many films and projects about that.’

Even for films, blacks dey always suffer, real life we still dey suffer. When are people going to stop seeing us    as suffer-head people?

The way the whites messed Henry Emory up in the office, heiii I felt like beating them up. The acting was topnotch but I don’t agree with the storyline.

The last episode just vex me. Betty was at fault!

A paragraph for my lookalike. Shahadi wasn’t so smart enough to know that her white friend was using her. Why will a friend show you a hiding spot of where a student and a teacher are both having sex? Just like that. You left your lunch to watch live porn....Little marvin, what were you writing? You made shahadi look like a fool. I thought she would take after her smart mum.

Yeah, the slap Lucky gave Betty was excellent. I gave her another one in my dream too. I don’t understand the anger and tears Henry always use to eat his food. He is always happy around his children and sometimes with his wife. Even in that pain, they still had sex. Konji na bastard true true.

Also, didn’t the children know that something is definitely wrong with the house. I really don’t get why they were against their mum. But well, y’all should watch it before I give spoilers.

Moral Lessons:

1) If your family dey for you, dey for them too.

2) Learn how to plait hair🤣.

3) Always communicate with your partner.

4) Learn how to show craze to any teacher that messes with your child/children.

5) No be by force to get friend on the first day of school.

Rating: PG18, no watch am with small pikin o.

I will give this movie a solid 60%.

Enjoy!🍿
